Gunman opens fire at school in Thailand, injuries reported

A gunman broke into a school in Songkhla Province of Thailand on Wednesday afternoon, causing injuries.

Axar.az informs, citing Xinhua, the exact number of injured remains unconfirmed.

Preliminary investigation revealed the gunman entered the school premises near dismissal time. After the shooting, the assailant took some students and teachers hostage inside the school building, while many students remain trapped inside and cannot leave.

Hat Yai Police Station officers, special operations forces, and rescue units have surrounded the school to control the situation and are evacuating those in safe zones. Authorities have coordinated with local administrative officers and related agencies to negotiate with the gunman. However, as of now, the perpetrator remains at large.
