Over 2,000 buildings underwater in Dagestan

Over 2,000 residential buildings and 180 road sections have been submerged in water in Dagestan.

Axar.az informs that the region’s leader, Sergey Melikov, reported the situation to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“All levels of road traffic and road services have been put on high alert, and restoration work is underway. In total, over 2,000 residential buildings, more than 2,100 private plots, and over 180 road sections have been flooded,” Melikov said.

It is worth noting that heavy torrential rains, especially in Makhachkala, have caused serious damage in Dagestan, marking the highest rainfall record since 1919. Floods have submerged roads, swept away vehicles, and left over 60,000 people without electricity. A state of emergency has been declared, paralyzing daily life. The situation worsened two days ago when a reservoir dam partially broke.
