The United Kingdom will not take part in a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz announced by U.S. President Donald Trump.
Axar.az reports, citing Sky News, a government spokesperson said the UK continues to support freedom of navigation and the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, which is needed to support the global economy and ease the cost of living at home.
The spokesperson also stressed that the Strait of Hormuz must not be subject to tolling.
It was further noted that London is urgently working with France and other partners to form a broad coalition aimed at protecting freedom of navigation.
According to the report, the UK is also understood to have mine-hunting systems already deployed in the region.
