Tehran says US pressure may break truce

Attempts by the United States to isolate Iran could pave the way for a breach of the ceasefire.

Axar.az reports, citing Tasnim, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei made the remarks at today’s press conference.

“Iran is not a country that can be blockaded. If you fail in the diplomatic process and seek to apply pressure through other tools, you will not succeed that way either,” Baghaei said.

He also dismissed speculation about an extension of the ceasefire. The Foreign Ministry spokesperson noted that talks are continuing through Pakistani mediation, while reports about prolonging the ceasefire cannot be confirmed.

“We are dealing with a party that has a long record of changing its positions, so we are negotiating under very difficult conditions. We must see how serious the other side is. It is the United States that must prove its seriousness.”

Speaking about U.S. pressure efforts, Baghaei said such measures have no legal legitimacy.

“This step has no legal basis and could become a prelude to violating the ceasefire. Iran’s forces are closely monitoring developments and will respond to any action.”
