Possible deal would unfreeze $20 billion for Iran

The United States and Iran are negotiating over a three-page plan to end the war under which Washington would release $20 billion in frozen Iranian funds in exchange for Tehran giving up its stockpile of enriched uranium.

Axar.az reports, citing Axios, President Trump said Thursday that U.S. and Iranian negotiators would likely meet this weekend for a second round of talks to try to seal the deal.

“There has been steady progress in the talks this week, though significant gaps remain,” the report said.

Disagreements persist over how the uranium stockpile would be handled and the length of a proposed moratorium on Iran’s nuclear enrichment program.
