Iran says Hormuz transit requires prior approval

Ship movement through the Strait of Hormuz will be allowed only with prior authorization from Iran and under the supervision of the IRGC Navy.

Axar.az reports, citing IRGC Telegram channel, passage rights apply only to civilian vessels using routes approved by Iran.

The statement added that military ships remain banned from transit, and that while the strait is “open,” navigation through it is not “free.”

It should be noted that earlier today, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced that the Strait of Hormuz would remain open during the ceasefire period.
