Starmer and Trump discussed Washington incident, Hormuz

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and US President Donald Trump have held a telephone conversation.

Axar.az reports, citing the UK Prime Minister’s Office, Starmer extended his best wishes to President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump following the incidents at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, expressing relief that both were safe and wishing a speedy recovery to an injured officer.

The leaders also discussed the urgent need to restore shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, citing its significant impact on the global economy and the cost of living in the UK and worldwide.

The Prime Minister also updated President Trump on a joint initiative with French President Emmanuel Macron aimed at restoring freedom of navigation, following recent military planning discussions.

Both sides agreed to remain in contact.
