Qassem calls on Lebanon to end direct talks with Israel

The Hezbollah's leader, Naim Qassem, has reiterated his rejection of direct negotiations between Lebanon and Israel, describing such talks as a “serious mistake.”

Axar.az reports, citing Al-Hadath, Qassem said that direct negotiations conducted by the Lebanese authorities with Israel “do not concern us and are irrelevant to us,” stressing that Hezbollah categorically rejects them.

He warned that such direct talks could push Lebanon into a “cycle of instability,” reaffirming the group’s opposition to any form of direct engagement with Israel, which he described as a “grave sin.”

Qassem also stated that Hezbollah “will not abandon its weapons,” amid ongoing political debate in Lebanon over the role of the group.

He further criticized the Lebanese authorities, accusing them of making concessions to Israel, and called for national unity and continued resistance against what he described as U.S. and Israeli pressure.

The remarks come amid continued tensions despite a fragile ceasefire arrangement and ongoing exchanges of accusations and sporadic strikes in southern Lebanon.
