US denies visa to Russian delegate for UN Committee meeting

The United States has refused to issue a visa to a member of the Russian delegation who was due to participate in the UN Committee on Information session in New York, which began on April 27 and will continue until May 8.

Axar.az reports, citing TASS, that this was stated by Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya.

“We interpret these actions, or rather inaction, by the American side as a flagrant and systemic violation of its commitments under the host country agreement,” Nebenzya said.

He also called on the UN Secretariat to take “all necessary measures to stop this vicious and politicized practice, including the launch of arbitration procedures.”

Meanwhile, Dmitry Birichevsky, Director of the Economic Cooperation Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that another Russian diplomat has been excluded from the spring meetings of the Bretton Woods institutions ahead of the G20 summit.
