WWII bomb discovery forces evacuation in Plymouth

An unexploded World War II bomb has been safely dealt with under controlled conditions in the city of Plymouth, in southwest Great Britain.

Axar.az reports, citing Sky News, a homeowner carrying out excavation work in the Southway district on April 30 discovered a German-made SC250 aerial bomb buried underground. The discovery prompted the evacuation of residents from approximately 1,200 nearby homes.

Specialists from the Royal Navy were deployed to assess and secure the device. A safety cordon was established, and large quantities of sand were used to stabilize the bomb while detailed examinations, including X-ray analysis, were conducted.

The ordnance was subsequently neutralized by experts following the completion of evacuation procedures.
