Turkiye, Armenia complete steps toward direct trade

Turkiye and Armenia have completed preparations to launch direct trade between the two countries.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesperson Oncu Keceli on his X account.

"Within the framework of the normalization process with Armenia, which has been ongoing since 2022, the bureaucratic preparations for the launch of direct trade between our country and Armenia, as part of confidence-building measures, were completed as of May 11, 2026.

The necessary technical and bureaucratic work for opening the shared border between the two countries is still ongoing," the statement reads.

It is also noted that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan previously said that changes had been made to Turkish legislation, adding Armenia to the list of countries importing Turkish goods.
