Kabuga, key figure in Rwanda genocide, dies at 91

Felicien Kabuga, described as the “main financier” of the 1994 Rwandan genocide, has died at the age of 91.

Axar.az reports, citing Le Monde, that Kabuga, who was accused of genocide, conspiracy to commit genocide, incitement to genocide, and crimes against humanity, died in a hospital on May 16.

He was arrested in France in 2020 after years as one of the world’s most wanted fugitives and was later transferred to The Hague, where his trial began in 2022.

His proceedings were suspended in 2023 after judges found him unfit to stand trial, although he remained in detention pending possible transfer to another country.
