Lebanon PM accuses Israel of “scorched earth” policy

Lebanon’s Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has accused Israel of pursuing a “scorched earth” policy in southern Lebanon as Israeli airstrikes and evacuation warnings intensified across the region.

Axar.az reports, citing Al-Balad, Salam said Israeli forces were “destroying cities and villages” and forcing civilians to flee, warning that the campaign would bring “neither security nor stability” to Israel.

His remarks came a day after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israeli troops had advanced deeper into Lebanese territory and warned of further escalation.

Cross-border hostilities also continued, with Hezbollah claiming attacks on northern Israel and clashes with Israeli forces in southern Lebanon. The Israeli military said more than 25 projectiles were launched from Lebanon, triggering air raid sirens in northern towns for the first time since a fragile ceasefire arrangement took effect in April.
