Germany hits record 41.3°C as heatwave intensifies

Germany recorded a preliminary all-time high temperature of 41.3°C in Saarbrucken on Friday, surpassing the previous national record of 41.2°C set in July 2019.

Axar.az reports, citing German media, that the German Weather Service (DWD) said 147 weather stations registered their hottest June day on record.

Temperatures also exceeded 40°C in Bad Kreuznach and Trier.

The intense heatwave, driven by an Omega blocking high-pressure system, has prompted widespread warnings, event cancellations and expected rail disruptions.

Authorities have urged people to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities, while doctors warned that many hospitals remain inadequately equipped to cope with extreme heat.
