Poland sets new all-time temperature record

Poland recorded its highest temperature on record on Sunday as the European heatwave pushed east, with 40.5 degrees Celsius (104.9 degrees Fahrenheit) in the western town of Slubice.

Axar.az reports, citing Polish media, temperature of 40.3 C was also recorded in Torun, both exceeding Poland's previous official record of 40.2 C set in Proszkow in 1921.

Officials said the new readings remain subject to verification and could rise further as additional measurements are confirmed.

The latest records come as several European countries have set new temperature highs during an intense heatwave that scientists say has been intensified by climate change.
