Georgia hit by second day of power outages

Georgia has been experiencing a widespread power outage for the second consecutive day.

Axar.az reports, citing TASS, electricity remains unavailable in Tbilisi, Ozurgeti, Poti, and Rustavi. The emergency outage has also shut down water pumping stations, leaving some parts of Tbilisi without running water.

According to the agency, traffic lights in the Georgian capital are out of service, while many shops are also without electricity.

On the night of July 24, nearly all of Georgia, including Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, and other major cities, was left without power. Preliminary reports suggest the blackout was caused by a major failure in the country's power grid. Some mobile operators also experienced service disruptions.

The outage has not affected air travel, with flights continuing to operate as scheduled.

Earlier, Abkhazia also experienced a power outage following an accident at the Inguri Hydropower Plant.
