US President Donald Trump has joked he will seek another term in the Oval Office.

Axar.az reports, citing Sky News, that speaking at the White House correspondents' dinner in Washington on Friday night, Trump poked fun at his audience, saying he would be running for president for a fourth time to try and get a third term in the White House.

During his hour-long speech, Trump struck a tone which very much reflected the warm tenor of the evening as he made friendly jokes while also criticising what he calls the "fake news media".

Towards the end of his speech, he joked: "That's why tonight, to show just how much I care about the press and, I want to save your ratings.

"I'm pleased to announce my intention to, and this is somewhat of a scoop, my intention to run for a fourth term as president of the United States."

Trump then brought out a "Trump 2028" red cap and put it on.
