Yemen’s Houthi movement has threatened a “decisive and painful response" if Pakistan or Turkiye intervenes militarily alongside Saudi Arabia in Yemen.

Axar.az reports that Mohammed al-Bukhaiti, a member of Ansar Allah’s political bureau and governor of Dhamar, made the remarks in an interview with Iraqi television program iNews.

“By God, if Turkiye and Pakistan become involved, we will strike them with an iron fist,” al-Bukhaiti said, adding that the Houthis would “teach” both countries a lesson if they joined what he described as Saudi aggression against Yemen.

The warning comes amid renewed Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and growing attention to the defence agreement between Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkiye.

The defence agreement, signed by Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkiye on August 7, states that an attack on any one of the signatories will be considered an attack on all three.

Earlier, Turkiye and Pakistan had condemned Houthi strikes targeting Saudi Arabia.
