Pahlavi reiterates call to overthrow Islamic Republic

Iranian opposition figure Reza Pahlavi, the son of Iran’s last Shah, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, said his movement is more determined and organized than ever and reiterated his call for the overthrow of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Axar.az reports, citing Iran International, that Pahlavi made the remarks at a Cyrus the Great event in Toronto on Saturday, saying Iranians should maintain national unity and have faith that “the morning of freedom” is near.

Pahlavi also claimed that divisions and distrust have emerged within the Islamic Republic’s leadership and that security and military personnel have contacted opposition groups and separated themselves from the government.

He further claimed that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and other senior officials had been killed and that Mojtaba Khamenei was missing. He said that, if alive, Mojtaba Khamenei was hiding in an underground shelter.

Pahlavi reiterated four principles he said should guide Iran’s future: preserving the country’s territorial integrity, separation of religion and government, individual freedoms and equality before the law, and allowing the people to determine the form of government through free and fair elections.
