Kadir Atambayev, leader of Kyrgyzstan’s Social Democratic Party and son of former President Almazbek Atambayev, has been sentenced to four years in prison.

Axar.az reports, citing Kyrgyz media, that the Pervomaisky District Court in Bishkek handed down the sentence.

“Kadir Atambayev has been sentenced to four years in prison with confiscation of property,” the court said in its ruling.

Kadir Atambayev was accused of attempting to seize power.

It should be noted that former Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev was sentenced to 11.5 years in prison on probation. Atambayev currently lives in Spain.
