Drone attack disrupts Putin’s return to Moscow

Russian government aircraft returning from a summit attended by President Vladimir Putin in Turkmenistan were forced to circle over Moscow after a Ukrainian drone attack disrupted operations at the capital’s airports.

Axar.az reports, citing The Telegraph, that four aircraft belonging to Russia’s presidential Special Flight Squadron were affected by the disruption. It remains unclear whether Putin was aboard any of them. All four planes have since landed.

The aircraft were returning from Turkmenistan, where Putin attended a Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) summit and met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

The disruptions came amid an increase in Ukrainian drone attacks on Russia, which have led to repeated airport closures and flight delays.
