Katie Zacharia named new White House press secretary

US President Donald Trump has appointed Katie Zacharia as the new White House press secretary, replacing Karoline Leavitt.

Axar.az reports that Trump announced the appointment in a post on his Truth Social account.

Zacharia currently serves as a senior communications adviser to Truth Social, part of Trump Media & Technology Group. She previously worked as a spokesperson and deputy assistant secretary for public affairs at the US Department of Homeland Security.

A graduate of Pepperdine University and the Pepperdine Caruso School of Law, Zacharia is an attorney and has frequently appeared as a commentator on media outlets including Fox News and Newsmax. She also participated in Trump's election campaigns, assisting in key swing states, he said.

Trump described Zacharia as a loyal supporter and expressed confidence that she would work effectively with the media, the American public and his administration.

He also praised outgoing press secretary Karoline Leavitt, saying she had done a “fantastic job” in the role.
