Palestinian elections scheduled for September 11, 2027

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Saturday issued a decree calling for simultaneous presidential and legislative elections to be held on September 11, 2027, postponing the previously scheduled legislative polls.

Axar.az reports, citing WAFA News Agency, that the new decree calls on Palestinians in Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip to participate in free and direct elections to elect the President of the State of Palestine and members of the Palestinian Legislative Council simultaneously, in accordance with the law.

The legislative polls had been due to take place on November 28 this year, while a presidential vote had been expected in early 2027.
