Trump: Beirut blast was likely a bombing

An official with the Lebanese Red Cross says at least 100 people were killed and more than 4000 wounded in the massive explosion in Beirut. The official, George Kettaneh, says the toll could rise further.

Axar.az reports citing foreign media that the blast in Beirut's port appeared to have been triggered by a fire. It was the most powerful explosion ever seen in the city, which has endured civil war, conflicts with Israel and terror attacks.

US President Donald Trump said US military generals have told him that they “seem to feel'' the massive explosion was a “terrible attack'' in Lebanon and was likely caused by a bomb.

Trump was asked why he called it an attack and not an accident, especially since Lebanese officials say they have not determined the cause of the explosion.
