Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan intends to take back Istanbul after his victory in the presidential elections.

Axar.az reports that this was stated in an article published in "CNN International".

The publication notes that Erdogan has already started working to win back the city in the municipal elections 10 months later.

The article also emphasizes that Istanbul has a special importance:

"Istanbul, once the capital of the Ottoman Empire, is today the largest city in Turkiye. The country's economic powerhouse is home to approximately 16 million people - that is, a quarter of Turkiye's voters."
