Russia will be drawn into a conflict in the South Caucasus.

Axar.az reports that Artak Zakaryan, former Deputy Minister of Defense of Armenia, stated this.

He noted that Moscow and Tehran will have to use harsh methods to protect their interests in the region:

'Azerbaijan has already become an attractive partner for Russia. If there was once an Armenian factor in the region, Armenia has now become a secondary concern. The Armenian government has turned the country into a marginal state, and the West will not be able to fill this void. Azerbaijan is currently more appealing to the West than Armenia.'

Zakaryan also mentioned that the future developments in the Caucasus depend on political processes in Georgia, and Russia is not preparing to leave the South Caucasus.
