Iran has been granted observer status in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).

Axar.az reports to TASS that this decision was taken at the summit of the union organized in Russia.

"From now on, Iran will be an observer state in our union," Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Bakitjan Sagintayev told journalists.

It should be noted that Cuba and Uzbekistan also have observer-state status in the EU. The Eurasian "five" includes Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
