The UN has commented on the decision to close the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Axar.az reports that Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General Farhan Haq noted that the organization he represents is committed to a constructive dialogue with the US leadership.

The spokesperson said that the UN is aware of the US government's decision to suspend foreign aid funding: "We comply with all legal instructions in our member states. USAID has a long history of cooperation with various governments of the organization's member states."

It should be noted that the official USAID website is currently inactive. The Trump administration is considering the possibility of revoking USAID's independent status and integrating it into the structure of the State Department. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has been appointed acting director of USAID.

USAID head Samantha Power is known for her messages of support for Armenia on "X". Aykhan Hajizada, head of the Press Service Department of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that official Baku has sent a notification to the United States stating that there is no legal basis for USAID's activities and that it should suspend its work.
