Sybiha: Interim ceasefire does not mean frozen conflict

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has clarified that an interim ceasefire in the Russo-Ukrainian war does not mean a "frozen conflict".

Axar.az reports this was stated by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha, who participated in the Jeddah talks, on his social media account.

"Why is such a temporary ceasefire important? Because it does not mean freezing the conflict. It is solely an attempt to begin the path toward ending the war in a fair manner. It is also a step that reveals who is truly interested in peace," he noted.

He also highlighted that the statement explicitly mentioned the immediate resumption of U.S. intelligence sharing and military aid to Ukraine:

"Additionally, the statement sends a positive signal from both Ukrainian and U.S. leaders regarding the signing of a mineral resources agreement. Moreover, it directly links this agreement to the U.S.’s commitment to Ukraine’s long-term prosperity and security—exactly what Ukraine has been striving for."

Notably, the U.S.-Ukraine talks in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) took place on March 11, resulting in a joint statement. Since the discussions were productive, there was no need to continue them on March 12.
