A program agreement has been signed for the construction of the world’s largest suspension bridge in Italy.

Axar.az informs that this was reported by Italy’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.

The agreement for the bridge, which will span the Strait of Messina, was signed by Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Matteo Salvini, Minister of Economy and Finance Giancarlo Giorgetti, the governors of the Sicily and Calabria regions, and heads of the executive companies.

The 3.6-kilometer-long bridge, which will connect the island of Sicily to the mainland, is expected to cost approximately 6.3 billion euros. Construction is planned to begin this summer and is scheduled for completion in 2032.
