The United States, acting through intermediaries, has offered to lift sanctions and end its economic blockade of Iran in exchange for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and a halt to attacks by Iran-aligned proxy forces in the region.

Axar.az informs, citing Iranian media, that the proposal was conveyed to Iranian officials by Pakistani Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir during his recent visit to Tehran. The report is consistent with other recent accounts of Pakistan relaying US proposals to Iran.

Munir also called on Tehran to resume work on a memorandum of understanding and reiterated that Islamabad is not taking sides in the conflict.
