Nobel prize winner Naipaul dies, aged 85

The British author and Nobel laureate Vidiadhar Surajprasad Naipaul, born in Trinidad, died in London aged 85, the Press Association Agency reported on Sunday.

Axar.az informs citing TASS.

"He was a giant in all that he achieved and he died surrounded by those he loved, having lived a life which was full of wonderful creativity and endeavor," his spouse Nadira Naipaul said in a comment.

Naipaul wrote over 30 books, with "A House for Mr. Biswas" and "An Area of Darkness" novels being the most known.

He was awarded the Booker prize in 1971 and the Nobel prize for literature in 2001.
