President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has attended the opening of Sumgayit Seaside Boulevard and Sumgayit city beach.

Axar.az reports that, President has participated in opening ceremony of Seaside Boulevard and the city beach and cut the ribbon as a symbol of opening.

The head of the state was informed that the boulevard stretches 4 km along the Caspian Sea coast. Its construction has started from last October and has total area of 106 hectares.

Work carried out in the complex included the planting of 100,000 trees, more than 500,000 different rose bushes, creation of a lawn, which occupies an area of 60,000 square meters, installation of a modern lightening system, security cameras and monitors, construction of a water supply and sewage system and pedestrian zones. A Flag Square was built in the boulevard, which has the flagpole standing 42 meters in height. Complex also has cafes, a cinema, football pitches, an open-air stage, shops, bicycle track and special entertainment zones for children.

President Ilham Aliyev was told that beach has total area of 12 hectares and more than 500 jobs will be created here for unemployed people.
