President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Romanian Minister of Energy Sebastian Ioan Burduja on April 1.

Axar.az reports that at the meeting, it was stated with satisfaction that there are strategic partnership relations between Azerbaijan and Romania, and cooperation in all directions is expanding.

The President of Azerbaijan noted that the bilateral relations are in the stage of active development and emphasized the importance of the mutual visits of heads of state and other levels in terms of the expansion of our relations.

President Ilham Aliyev touched on the importance of the 8th meeting of the Joint Commission on Economic-Commercial Relations and Scientific-Technical Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of Romania, held in Baku, in terms of defining the perspectives of our relations, and noted with satisfaction that the agenda of this meeting includes issues related to energy and other fields.

The head of state said that major projects are being implemented in the energy sector in Azerbaijan, especially in the field of green energy, and emphasized the importance of the 10th meeting of ministers within the framework of the Southern Gas Corridor Consultative Council and the 2nd meeting of the ministers within the framework of the Green Energy Consultative Council held in Baku last month.

Sebastian Ioan Burduja congratulated Ilham Aliyev on the victory in the presidential elections and the holding of COP29 in our country. The guest said that the works carried out under the leadership of the head of our state, the beauty and development of Baku left a deep impression on them.

The President of Azerbaijan expressed his gratitude for the congratulations and kind words.

During the conversation, it was emphasized that considerable progress has already been made in the field of energy, and views were exchanged on the export of natural gas from Azerbaijan and green energy to Romania through the Black Sea.

It was noted that discussions on LNG, green energy and gas supply projects are ongoing, and Azerbaijan aims to enter the energy market of Romania in a diversified manner.

During the meeting, the expansion of economic and commercial relations between our countries was touched upon, last year's trade turnover increased by approximately 30 per cent compared to the previous year and reached 670 million US dollars, and it was reported that cooperation in the field of investment was also strengthened. Touching on the very active activity of SOCAR in Romania, it was brought to my attention that it occupies a rather important place in the fuel market of this country.

During the conversation, the expansion of cooperation in the fields of agriculture, health and education was emphasized with satisfaction.
