Turkiye-Armenia border may also open.
Axar.az, reports that Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Birol Akgün, stated this.
The ambassador emphasized the importance of viewing the Azerbaijan-Armenia and Turkiye-Armenia normalization processes as a whole:
“Both normalization processes are being carried out in parallel. In 2022, special representatives were appointed for the Turkiye-Armenia normalization process. As is known, due to the occupation of Azerbaijani lands, Turkiye closed its border with Armenia in 1993. Armenia is a landlocked country, and the Armenian people are the ones suffering most from this situation. Armenia borders Azerbaijan to the east and Turkiye to the west, but both borders remain closed. Everyone will benefit from peace, but Armenia will gain the most. We want the normalization process to accelerate. If a lasting peace agreement is signed or initialed, and if conditions regarding the Zangezur Corridor are met, then the Turkiye-Armenia border may also be opened at an appropriate time as a result of consultations between Ankara and Baku. This will depend on how the normalization process progresses.”
