Joint Declaration on the Outcomes of the Meeting between the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia in Washington, D.C., United States of America.

Axar.az reports that the Declaration states:

“We, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, met on 8 August 2025 in Washington, D.C., United States of America, and declare the following:

We, together with the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, witnessed the initialling by the Foreign Ministers of both sides of the agreed text of the “Treaty on the Establishment of Peace and Inter-State Relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia.” In this context, we acknowledged the need to continue taking additional steps towards the signing and eventual ratification of the Treaty, and we underlined the importance of ensuring and strengthening peace between our countries.

We also witnessed the signing by the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia of a joint request to the OSCE for the closure of the OSCE Minsk Process and its related structures. We call on all OSCE participating States to endorse this decision.

We reaffirmed the importance of opening communications to facilitate domestic, bilateral, and international transportation between the two countries, in order to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and its neighbourhood, based on respect for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and jurisdiction of states. These efforts include unhindered connectivity between the mainland of the Republic of Azerbaijan and its Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, as well as mutual benefits for the Republic of Armenia in terms of international and domestic connectivity.

The Republic of Armenia will cooperate with the United States of America and mutually agreed third parties to establish the framework for the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP) connectivity project on the territory of the Republic of Armenia. We reaffirm our determination to work in good faith to achieve this goal as soon as possible.

We acknowledge the need to embark on the path towards a bright future, free from the shadow of the past conflict, in line with the Charter of the United Nations and the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration. After a conflict that has caused profound human suffering, conditions have now been created for our states to begin building neighbourly relations based on the inviolability of international borders and the inadmissibility of the use of force to acquire territory. This reality, which is not and will never be subject to revision, paves the way for closing the chapter of hostility between our states. We firmly reject and rule out any attempt at revenge, now or in the future.

We express our confidence that this Summit will serve as a solid foundation for advancing mutual respect and peace in the region.

We express our deep gratitude to the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, for his sincere hospitality in hosting this important Summit and for his significant contributions to advancing the normalisation of bilateral relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia.

This Declaration was signed on 8 August 2025 in Washington, D.C., United States of America.”
