The worst geopolitical disaster for Georgia is about to happen.
Axar.az reports that former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said this.
The former president stated that during his time in office, democratic Georgia was attractive for foreign investment:
"During my tenure, the establishment of broad international ties and the launch of rapid Euro-Atlantic integration also strengthened us. These were the guarantees of our security. To protect our transit function and especially our democratic system, Bush sent the 6th Fleet in 2008.
Ivanishvili destroyed Georgian democracy, isolated Georgia from its main allies, and now, because of all this, we are losing our function as a transit hub. The signing of the U.S.-Azerbaijan-Armenia international agreement, under which America has leased the Zangezur Corridor for 100 years, opens a new transit route from Europe to China, this time bypassing Georgia, Iran, and Russia. Yes, together with Iran and Russia, we are now facing complete geopolitical isolation. This means that an ‘iron curtain’ is falling at the Red Bridge (Georgia-Azerbaijan border), and we are tumbling into the abyss alongside Moscow and Tehran."
Saakashvili claimed that the Laziki port project, like Georgia’s existing ports, is losing its significance, while the population is rapidly becoming impoverished:
"The severing of strategic alliances with America and Europe has brought us to this point. How ironic that all this is happening on the anniversary of the August war."
