A phone conversation took place between Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
Axar.az reports that the call mainly focused on the Zangazur corridor.
“This route should not cause changes in the region’s geopolitics, nor should it block Iran’s access to other communication routes. Every decision and action must fully respect the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of the countries,” Araghchi said.
It is notable that Abbas Arakchi did not express any specific objection to the Zangazur corridor but emphasized the need to protect Iran’s interests.
Unlike Araghchi, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s advisor and former foreign minister Ali Akbar Velayati has repeatedly made aggressive and sharp claims against the Zangazur corridor, even stating that Tehran would not allow the corridor to open.
