In recent years, Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan relations have been actively developing in a spirit of mutual trust and support. A Treaty on Allied Relations has been signed, and the High-Level Interstate Council is functioning.

Axar.az reports that these points were highlighted in Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s address to participants of the high-level meeting titled “Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and Europe – Cooperation for Common Development.”

“I would especially like to note that Azerbaijan plays a strategic role as a bridge connecting Central Asia with Europe,” he stated.

It was also noted that, together with the European Union and other partners, Uzbekistan will continue its efforts to develop efficient transport-logistics and energy corridors.

“I am confident that these efforts will allow our region to regain its role as a hub between East and West,” the president added.

Mirziyoyev praised Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s active participation in shaping new regional processes and his efforts to strengthen cooperation between the South Caucasus and Central Asia. He sincerely congratulated the friendly people of Azerbaijan on the recent signing of the trilateral Joint Declaration with Armenia in Washington.

The President emphasized that Uzbekistan is continuing its dynamic reforms and has already achieved significant results in this direction:

“In today’s extremely complex global environment, Uzbekistan and the Central Asian region offer the international community an invaluable resource — stability, trust, and development,” he said.

Mirziyoyev also highlighted the significant role of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center in preserving and promoting the unique intellectual heritage of the great Azerbaijani thinker Nizami Ganjavi.

“The Center’s active involvement in studying issues on the international agenda deserves special recognition. Its annual Global Baku Forum, held under its auspices, has become one of the leading global platforms for putting forward new ideas to solve the most pressing international and regional challenges,” the President noted.

He added that this meeting is a unique opportunity to present Central Asia more broadly to the world, strengthen interregional cooperation at a time when integration is accelerating, and fully discuss how to utilize the potential and opportunities of both Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
