The Kars–Igdır–Aralik–Dilucu railway line will help accelerate the normalization of diplomatic relations in the South Caucasus.

Axar.az informs Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu made the remarks at the groundbreaking ceremony for the line on August 22.

He stressed the geopolitical and geostrategic importance of the Zangezur Corridor:

“This railway will make a significant contribution to both regional and global trade. The project once again demonstrates Turkiye’s mediating role and its commitment to peace. Turkiye is putting forward a vision that looks to the future of the global economy. Kars will serve as the gateway of this line, Iğdır will become a hub for global trade, while Aralik and Dilucu will hold the key to the Zangezur Corridor.”

The minister added that the Kars–Igdir–Aralik–Dilucu railway is more than just a transport project — it represents a path to unity, prosperity, and peace that will echo on the international stage:

“This railway will boost economic cooperation in the South Caucasus, facilitate the opening of borders, and accelerate the normalization of diplomatic relations.”
