Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has been brought to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Axar.az reports, citing CNN, that people gathered in front of the building waving Venezuelan flags. The White House’s official operational response account shared a video of Maduro walking in a corridor covered with a blue carpet, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with “DEA” (U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration) markings. In the video, Maduro says, “Happy New Year.”

Maduro is set to appear before a Manhattan federal court judge on charges related to the storage of drugs and weapons.
