President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev congratulated Keir Starmer on his appointment as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Azerbaijan attaches special importance to traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperative relations with the United Kingdom.

Our long-term and effective joint activity in the energy sector makes an important contribution to ensuring global energy security. At the same time, the issues of renewable energy sources, transition to green energy and decarbonization occupy a leading place in the Azerbaijan-United Kingdom bilateral partnership agenda today. In this regard, I would like to highlight our successful cooperation with our close and reliable partner BP in the transition to clean energy. I express my belief that our cooperation will be continued within the framework of COP29, which will be hosted by Azerbaijan in November of this year.

We highly appreciate the contribution of the United Kingdom to the demining work in the liberated areas of our country.
