U.S. authorities did not inform the Russian Embassy in Washington about the detention of Russian journalists at the airport who were traveling to cover the presidential elections. The visa of a cameraman from the publication "Izvestia" was revoked for "administrative reasons."
Axar.az reports that this was stated by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
She noted that approximately a day earlier, on the night of October 29 (U.S. time), Russian reporters from "Izvestia" traveled to the U.S. to cover the presidential elections.
"They went there with all their documents in order. They declared their purpose to work as journalists covering the elections and went through all the procedures. They had their visas, permits—an entire package of documents—when they headed to the U.S. Upon arrival, they were met at the airport, detained, and questioned. The interrogation lasted for hours. Then, the group’s cameraman was denied permission to cross the border. His entry visa was revoked for 'administrative reasons.' It is unclear what this means. Moreover, during all this time, the U.S. administration did not inform either Russian diplomats or the Russian Embassy in Washington about the detention of Russian citizens."
