On January 31, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Secretary General of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) Lazar Comanescu.
Axar.az reports that the Press Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the meeting exchanged views on Azerbaijan-BSEC cooperation, Azerbaijan's chairmanship of the Organization in the first half of this year, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Noting that the BSEC is one of the important platforms in terms of promoting and advancing regional cooperation, Jeyhun Bayramov noted that our country supports further strengthening of existing cooperation within the Organization.
Azerbaijan's initiatives in the regional economy, trade, energy security, transport, communications, and tourism were discussed, and it was noted that the main directions were the efforts to develop the green energy corridor project connecting the Caspian-Black-Mediterranean regions, as well as the Middle Corridor.
Issues of increasing joint efforts within the framework of energy, good governance, and other working groups within the Organization were considered.
Discussing our country's chairmanship of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), the parties emphasized the importance of adopting several important decisions regarding the new climate finance target, carbon markets, and the Loss and Damage Fund within the framework of this prestigious event held in Azerbaijan last year, as well as the importance of joint activities in the BSEC on climate action.
Regional issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting.
