U.S. President Donald Trump stated aboard Air Force One on April 13 that he expects to make a decision on Iran "very quickly" following what both the U.S. and Iran described as “positive” and “constructive” nuclear talks held in Oman on Saturday.
Axar.az, citing Reuters, reports that these talks were the first direct engagement between Iran and the Trump administration.
Trump, who has previously warned of possible military action if no agreement is reached on halting Iran’s nuclear program, said he met with his advisers and is nearing a decision but offered no specific details.
Separately, Axios reported, citing two sources, that a second round of nuclear negotiations between the U.S. and Iran is scheduled for next Saturday in Rome.
While speaking Saturday, Trump commented that the talks were going "okay,” but emphasized that results matter more than progress reports, saying, “Nothing matters until you get it done... The Iran situation is going pretty good, I think.”
