A literary and musical evening entitled "Joy of Victory" dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the historic Victory in the Patriotic War was organized at the Baku Book Center with the participation of well-known figures of science, culture, and public opinion of our country. The event was attended by the Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of the IDEA Public Union, Leyla Aliyeva, and head of the Baku Media Center, Arzu Aliyeva.
Axar.az reports that at the beginning of the event, the dear memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of our Motherland and the integrity of our lands was commemorated with a minute of silence.
Opening the event, Director of the Baku Book Center Gunel Rzayeva said that the heroism of our martyrs has always been a source of pride for our people. She noted that the liberation of the lands under enemy occupation for nearly thirty years by our brave Army under the leadership of the President of Azerbaijan, the Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, and the restoration of the territorial integrity of our country are the most glorious pages in the history of our independent statehood.
In his speech, the Secretary of the Azerbaijan Writers' Union, Ilgar Fahmi, spoke about the moral significance of the Victory we won in the Patriotic War for our people, and the role of the courage and heroism of the martyrs as an example for future generations.
The event was addressed by the father of martyr Rovshan Nurzadeh, People's Artist Ali Nur, the group commander of the Azerbaijan Special Forces, Hero of the Patriotic War, martyred senior ensign Jamal Ismayilov's wife Fatima Ismayilova, and the mother of Hero of the Patriotic War, martyred major Elchin Mansurov, Maleyka Majidova.
Then the event continued with the artistic part. Soloists of the Azerbaijan State Chamber Orchestra named after Gara Garayev, operating under the Azerbaijan State Academic Philharmonic named after Muslim Magomayev, and the Choir named after Jahangir Jahangirov of the International Mugham Center performed folk songs and compositions.
A video clip depicting the heroic scenes of the Azerbaijani Army during the 44-day Patriotic War, images of liberated cities and villages, as well as the perpetuation of the memory of the martyrs, was shown at the event.
