Kazakhstan is awaiting the results of Russian and Western laboratories for a report on the crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) plane near the city of Aktau on December 25, 2024.
Axar.az reports that this was stated by Kazakhstan's Minister of Transport, Nurlan Sauranbayev, at a press conference in Astana.
According to him, the research materials were submitted to Azerbaijan and Russia for laboratory examination within the framework of an internal agreement. Later, the Azerbaijani side transferred them to Western experts.
Recall that on December 25, 2024, an AZAL Embraer 190 passenger plane, performing flight number J2-8243 from Baku to Grozny, was subjected to external physical and technical interference in the airspace of the Russian Federation. Having lost control, the aircraft was diverted to the city of Aktau in the Republic of Kazakhstan and made an emergency landing there. Of the 67 people on board, 38 died, and 29 people were saved.
For their high professionalism, courage, and selflessness in the performance of their official duties, the crew members who died - Kshnyakin Igor Ivanovich, Kalyaninov Alexander Georgievich, and Aliyeva Hokume Jalil gizi - were posthumously awarded the title of "National Hero of Azerbaijan". The surviving crew members - Asadov Zulfiqar Sardar oglu and Rahimli Aydan Vagif gizi - were awarded the Order of "Rashadat" of the 1st degree.
