A volcanic eruption has been recorded in Azerbaijan’s Garadagh district.

Axar.az reports, citing the Earthquake Research Bureau of the Republican Seismic Survey Center under the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), that the natural phenomenon was recorded at 07:32 local time.

Initial observation and assessment work is currently underway at the site regarding the activity of the Otman Bozdag mud volcano in Baku’s Garadagh district and the geological changes caused by the eruption.

Ceyhun Pashayev, director of the Baku and Absheron Peninsula Mud Volcanoes State Nature Reserve, said this.

According to him, the eruption was accompanied by intense flames.
