Azerbaijani diaspora visit Chanakkale Martyrs' Memorial

Members of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Society of Solidarity and Culture with Azerbaijan (ISTAD-İstanbul) have visited Chanakkale Martyrs' Memorial.

“Chanakkale victory is a turning point for Turkey and the Turkic World,” said chair of the society Safar Qaraqoyunlu during the ceremony.

He highlighted the role of Azerbaijani soldiers who became martyrs in Chanakkale battle. “According to unofficial information, 18,000 volunteers from the Caucasus and Azerbaijan joined the battle, and 3,000 of them, according to official statistics, became martyrs.”

August 30 marks the Victory Day in Turkey. In 1922, headed by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the Turkish army won the battle for Independence, which came down in history as Chanakkale Victory.
