In 2025, the 76th International Astronautical Congress will be held in Sydney, Australia.
Axar.az reports that a decision was made at the 75th International Astronautical Congress hosted by Milan, Italy.
The Milan Astronautical Congress held from October 14 to 18 under the motto "Space Responsibility for Sustainability" was the largest congress in history. More than 11,200 representatives from 120 countries participated in the Congress. These figures are a record indicator and show that the congress is the largest platform where participants of the space field gather on a global scale. The exhibition pavilion of the Congress received a record number - more than 530 participants. At this year's congress, the Global Space Leaders Summit was held for the first time, bringing together the heads of 60 space agencies and institutions. Three thousand people tuned in to the Milan Congress live online, and the venue hosted 3,500 attendees each day.
At the Congress, there was a meeting of the public, students and young professionals with the participation of 25 astronauts. 73 new member organizations have joined the International Astronautical Federation, and their number has reached a total of 563 from 80 countries. In 2027, the International Astronautical Congress will be hosted by Poznan, Poland.
Azerbaijan was also represented at the 75th International Astronautical Congress. "Azerkosmos" represented Azerbaijan at the Milan Astronautical Congress with its country stand. At the Congress, our country was represented by a national scientific team consisting of about 50 students, young specialists and scientists. Azerbaijan has set a new record for scientific works at the Milan Congress. 345 scientific articles from our country were presented to the Milan Congress. With this result, Azerbaijan ranks among the top five in the world in terms of the number of scientific articles. 90 percent of the scientific articles presented in our country were prepared by young people.
In the elections held within the framework of the congress, the chairman of the management board of "Azerkosmos" Samaddin Asadov was elected the vice-president of the International Federation of Astronautics.
It should be recalled that Baku hosted the 74th International Astronautical Congress last year. 50 years later, Azerbaijan again hosted the International Astronautical Congress held in Baku in 1973 under the leadership of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, and it had a great symbolic meaning.
